PAUSE Health Initiative

As a leading grassroots organization for adolescent girls in the Chicagoland area, Demoiselle 2 Femme, NFP’s commitment to the health of girls extends beyond programs and encompasses community awareness campaigns, events and activities which encourage and promote healthy behaviors. Recognizing the role of the caregiver and the community-at-large as a contributor to adolescent health, D2F created the “PAUSE…Creating a Legacy of Good Health for Girls” initiative which provides opportunities for women and girls to learn vital health information.  PAUSE reaches over 2,000 women and girls each year through annual events focusing on HIV/AIDS Prevention and Awareness, Nutrition and Fitness and Diabetes Prevention and other health related issues. Over 300 women and girls have been tested for HIV as a result of PAUSE events.

PAUSE partners include the Chicago Department of Public Health, the University of Chicago Kovler Diabetes Center, Chef Eric Paul, Southside Help Center, the DuSable Museum of African American History, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Rush University Medical Center,   Lurie Children’s Hospital and City Colleges of Chicago.
