International Day of the Girl, is this Sunday, October 11th! The United Nations has declared this day to promote girls’ rights and gender inequalities. Celebrate the girls in your family, church and community. Here are a few suggestions:

– Recognize the girls in your church/youth group and have a girl read the attached poem.

-Make a special presentation to girls in your church, organization or community (rose, candy heart, poem, etc.)

-Print copies of the “I’m A Girl and I Matter poem and give them to random girls on Sunday. Let each girl know that SHE MATTERS!

-Take a group of girls to see the movie “He Named Me Malala” and host a discussion on educational disparities.

– Have a discussion with girls on gender inequalities in the U.S. and how they can join the conversation/movement

-Attend an event sponsored by our SSCUG partner, Girls Like Me Project (email girlslikemeprojectinc@gmail.com to register)

-Tag Demoiselle 2 Femme, NFP into your posts and pics so we can recognize your participation. Use hashtag #D2FDayoftheGirl

No matter where you live, DO SOMETHING to encourage girls in your God-given sphere of influence.
