In 2012, the United Nation’s proclaimed October 11 as ”International Day of the Girl Child.” The day promotes girls human rights, highlights gender inequalities that remain between girls and boys and addresses the various forms of discrimination and abuse suffered by girls around the world. Demoiselle 2 Femme, NFP and the South Side Coalition on Urban Girls (SSCUG) is hosting a rally, Saturday, October 11, 2014 on Chicago’s Richard J. Daley Plaza in recognition of the United Nation’s declared “International Day of the Girl. Representatives from diverse teen girls’ organizations are being asked to participate AND select representatives (a teen girl and a woman) to address the audience and have girls provide entertainment during the 90-minute program. Speakers will include men and “successful women” in the areas of government, healthcare, education, media, business and industry and more.
